• Spend the afternoon at the park with a picnic of sandwiches, cheese and crackers and wine (check the park rules before you bring alcohol). Make a card and just spend the day together. It will be obvious you put more effort into it then just going to the local florist and ordering flowers to be delivered.

• Avoid Valentine’s Day packages from your local florist or online store. They try to sell you a teddy bear, bouquet of roses and a box of  chocolate for twice the price of buying all those things separately. 

• Offer to make a romantic dinner for Valentine’s Day. You can make a nice Italian meal like spaghetti and meatballs fairly easily, and to really put it over the top you can make some cookies or cake for dessert. Get a nice glass of wine and one red rose and your entire night is set! It sure beats paying over a hundred dollars on a dozen roses, plus this idea is definitely more personable and less commercial.

 A last minute cheap valentines day

Put together a gift basket of his or her favorite little things. Things like soaps, candles, and chocolates work well. Not only are gift baskets great for creating something just right for that special someone, they are among the easiest and quickest last minute Valentine gifts to assemble

1.  Procrastinate! Many stores will have great sales on Valentine’s Day so if you wait until the last minute you might get a great deal.
2. Step 2
   Consider ordering flowers online. Almost every online flower shop will guarantee overnight delivery, especially for Valentine’s Day. Flowers are always a great idea on Valentine’s Day and are a great last minute gift idea that will get you off the hook.
3. Step 3
   Go to a candy store. Waiting for the last minute will limit what you can find at the candy store before Valentine’s Day. However, even a generic box of chocolate is a safe Valentine’s Day gift.
4. Step 4
   Go to a local mall or shopping center. Much like with last minute Christmas shopping, simply walking around these places will give you plenty of ideas for what to buy your wife for Valentine’s Day.
5. Step 5
   Call your local theater and see if there is a musical or play being performed on Valentine’s Day. This may not be an activity that you love but it’s a nice and unique Valentine’s Day gift. You’ll probably be able to find tickets online if the show is sold out.

Think of your wife’s favorite meal and then go to the grocery store. Buy the necessary items and prepare a dinner that consists of her favorite foods. Since most restaurants will be full on Valentine’s Day, this is a safe way to ensure that you can have a romantic meal on Valentine’s Day. It’s also a very thoughtful gesture.
